It’s a return to Wednesday Woollens today, with a few luxuriant sweaters from three different films….
First is the colour-block sweater worn by everyone’s favourite heroine, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in Catching Fire (2013). Although the afore-posted-upon “Katniss cowl” has already achieved fame and glory (plus about a zillion patterns), this equally fetching sweater seems thus far to have fallen through the cracks somewhat (hint, hint, knitting/crochet community… waiting for some patterns over here!). 😉
Admittedly, it appears only briefly, in one tiny scene from the Victory Tour. But it sure stands out!
A few others have also posted about it….
And this resourceful blogger came up with a photo of the original version!
UPDATE! There are now TWO purchasable versions on etsy. One is knitted, but unfortunately there’s no photo of the copy they make (from China):
Here’s the second one, which is crocheted:
And a pattern too! Eureka!
And as a P.S., I must pay homage to the brilliance of the term “Katknits”, coined here:
On to our next sweater, which is actually two-in-one: the rather similar pair of sweaters worn by Lina Mayfleet (Saoirse Ronan) in City of Ember (2008).
Again, some have already posted on these very knittable sweaters:
And finally, we have the sweater-coat worn by Lyra Belacqua (Dakota Blue Richards) in The Golden Compass (2007). I’ve posted many times already about the costumes in this film, which is one of my personal favourite treasure troves of costumery, but I haven’t highlighted this particular item yet:
Naturally, the knitters are long since onto it!
And here are two sets of instructions:
All in all, three pretty gorgeous & wearable sweaters, don’t you think?
